Lake Windcrest, Magnolia Texas

Welcome to Lake Windcrest in Magnolia! Lake Windcrest is an acreage estate community situated along Magnolia Parkway in southwest Montgomery County, Texas. Magnolia Parkway, also know as FM 1488, is a rapidly growing area from both residential and commercial standpoints. The 1488 Corridor borders the northwest side of The Woodlands and has easy access to I-45.

Lake Windcrest is a golf course community that features a sizeable private lake with boating facilities. This neighborhood is a must see if you are shopping for a golf course or waterfront home in the Magnolia area.

There are over 700 homes in Lake Windcrest with wooded lots sized from 1 to 5+ acres. Age of home ranges from 1997 to present, with just a few lots remaining that are available for new construction. Home sizes vary greatly in this custom community, but on on average homes are between 3,000 to 4,000 square feet. A wide variety of builders have particicipated in the residental construction of Lake Windcrest, resulting in a distinctive, individualized style where each home stands out.

Lake Windcrest is a deed restricted community with a professional community management company. The golf course section (Section 5) is the largest section and the first entrance from FM 1488 if you are heading west from the cross road of FM 2978 (turn at Windcrest National then Clubhouse Circle). There are two additional entrances to Lake Windcrest off of FM 1488, with the largest lake in the community accessed by the 3rd entrance, Lake Windcrest Blvd. Non-Golf Course sections in Lake Windcrest do allow horses provided the lot sizes are large enough to accommodate (please see the deed restrictions for more information).

The Lake Windcrest Golf Club features a private 18 hole course designed by Thomas E. Walker. The Clubhouse offers social and dining amenities as well as a pro shop. Cannongate Members enjoy access to Lake Windcrest as well as courses at Panther Trail and The Oaks at The Woodlands.

City of Magnolia Texas

Once a tiny town in the timber industry, Magnolia, Texas is a beautiful wooded community located a little over an hour's drive north of Downtown Houston. The City of Magnolia itself, situated at the crossroads of FM 1774 and FM 1488, is relatively small with a population noted by census as less than 1,500. Magnolia's extraterritorial jurisdiction (ETJ) is significantly larger spanning 12 miles in all directions with an area population of more than 138,000. Much of this population is centered along the 1488 Corridor (Magnolia Parkway) that extends from the town of Magnolia to the Northwest corner of The Woodlands.

Many residents are won over by Magnolia's larger lot sizes, abundant nature and wildlife resources, and communities with amenities including golf courses, recreational lakes, and horse friendly properties. This area is flexible and provides the best of both worlds for those that enjoy a country small town feeling but also desire city perks of shopping malls and entertainment. Lake Conroe is 20 minutes north of Magnolia, and the Cynthia Woods Pavilion in The Woodlands draws world class entertainment to the area.

For shopping in Magnolia, you'll find locally owned one-of-a-kind shops and dinng in Downtown Magnolia plus the more mainstream Westwood Village that has retail stores such as Target, TJ Maxx, Famous Footwear, Office Max, PetSmart, and Ross along with various restaurants and a Starbucks. A farmer's market is available every other weekend in Magnolia, as well as a craft market once a month.

During the fall season, Magnolia sees thousands of visitors drawn to the Texas Renaissance Festival in neighboring Plantersville.

Magnolia ISD has highly rated schools and is one of the fastest growing school districts in the region with an increase of 126% in student enrollment since 1994. This challenging growth rate has been met with multiple new school campus openings within the past decade including a 2nd high school, Magnolia West High School in 2006. Magnolia ISD is" Dedicated to Be The Best District in the State of Texas".

Martial Arts lovers will want to visit Magnolia Parkway's The Dojo Experience where they can learn from 7th degree Black Belt and Chun Kuk Do World Champion Tommy Crouch.

With recent major expansions to roads including FM 1488 and ongoing improvements to FM 1774, FM 2978, Highway 249, and the Grand Parkway, commute times are shortening and Magnolia has seen growth as a bedroom community to Houston, The Woodlands, and Spring. Two major Houston airports, Bush Intercontinental and Hobby, allow Magnolia residents to choose from numerous airlines for business and leisure travel. For those who like to cruise, it's only a 90 minute drive to the Port of Galveston where you'll find Carnival, Royal Caribbean, and recently added Disney cruise lines.

Magnolia has much to offer and its rapid growth is a reflection of the growing recognition of this desirable community.

County of Montgomery, Texas

With a 2010 census population of over 455,000, Montgomery County is ranked as the 24th fastest growing counties in the United States. It is estimated Montgomery County had a 55.14% growth rate over the past decade.

This historic county was created in 1837 by the Republic of Texas as its 3rd County and named in honor of Brigadier General Richard Montgomery. Montgomery County has beeen commemorated as the birthplace of the Texas Lone Star Flag. Conroe, Texas has been the county seat since 1888.

Located north of Houston and Harris County, Montgomery County features many noteworthy cities including The Woodlands Township, Conroe, Magnolia, and Montgomery. The terrain in many parts of the county is rolling hills. Montgomery County is a densely wooded area with a combination of pine, oak, and sweetgum trees populating its forests.

The economy of the county was primarily agriculture until oil was discovered southeast of Conroe. Early in 1930, the Montgomery County oilfields made it one of the richest oil producing areas in the nation. Oil production in the county has declined but it is still one of the leading sources of income to this day.

Approximately 90,000 of Montgomery County residents live in The Woodlands. The Woodlands Town Center is home to several corporate campuses including Chevron Philips, Anadarko Petroleum Corporation, Baker Hughes, CB&I, and AON Hewitt. 

State of Texas

Known as the the second largest state in land mass and the 28th state to be admitted to the Union, the Great State of Texas had an estimated population of over 25,000,000 residents. 

Texas occupies approximately seven percent of the total land and water areas of the United States. Houston is the largest city in Texas, and the sixth largest metropolitan area in the nation with almost 6 million residents.
